Julie Long Gallegos, Gaslight Original Beadwork and Fine Jewelry and California Poppy Apparel:
I started Gaslight Original Beadwork in 2006, when looking around for the right beads to repair a 1920s dress that needed some help. (The dress still needs help, but I’ll get back to it someday.) I’m a San Francisco Bay Area Native and find design inspiration in Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, California Decorative Style, Art Deco, the Wiener Werkstatte, African art and Native American beadwork. Nearly all these styles can be found here in Northern California, as well as the inspiration provided by Nature herself.
I started fine jewelry design when I realized that the jewelry I wanted to wear was difficult to find outside of museums. I'm proud, as a jewelry designer, to offer my work here, at American Craft council shows and other fine craft shows, at various museum shows, and at the Eclectic Artisans and the Artful Home, online.
I live in San Francisco with my husband Geoffrey, whose support is unwavering.
Please contact me by email at julierl@pacbell.net if you have questions about customization, production time, or materials. I'm happy to share information and some excellent work has resulted from such requests!
Above, the Earring Jackets in 10K gold and oxidized distressed-finish sterling silver, with my own 8mm champagne freshwater pearls. A custom request involving a delightful collaboration.
